    eCommerce Site for Affiliate Marketing

So my nerdy friend and I have been talking. [you know it's gonna be bad] So he says to me he's made lots of eCommerce sites for clients. [so far so good] As a web designer, it's appropriate. I perked up and says, I'd like to design an eCommerce site for myself, or even a few of them. [doom, Doom, DOOM]

So my idear is that I could make a nifty looking, snazzy, maxizumdweeb eCommerce site and put mah affiliate products on there and maybe, git me some snazzy API that keeps the entire process on mah eCommerce site or, if not, immediately direct them to the affiliate website. Them affiliate programs are Amazons, Linkshare, Conjunction Function, Shareasale, Peppermintpattyjam.

Couple of problems I've thought up.

    1. I'm mixing and matching affiliate products on one eCommerce site [still in design phase, don't panic] and I would need an API that would keep the process all on my site. Since, iffin the person were to say get 5 of these and 2 of these, all from different vendors, making it convenient for them to check out right on my site, hence the need for an API.

    2. if I don't do the API thingamabobber, I'd have to immediately direct them to the vendor, soz I can get mah affiliate cookie in there. But, then if they'd want 5 of these and 3 of these, from different vendors, they'd have to keep my site open, and maybe ... 3 other windows as well? Kinda clunky.

    So whaddyathink?
    eCommerce site bad idear?
    Can it be implementated?

I don't know that you need a full on ecommerce site for what you want to do. In fact, you might check this out: http://community.prosperent.com/showthread.php?596-MFPmu-(Made-For-Prosperent-Mass-Usage)

Uses an already existing api that aggregates products from several thousand merchants at the large networks. pretty impressive once you dig into the features.
