Hey, I just found something I though I want to share:- "4 Principles of YouTube's Success" "1) Find a solution to a problem: One of the founders was trying to send videos to his friend online. He had problems doing it. He saw an opportunity and started a website devoted to it. Going through that 'problem' opened the door for an opportunity bigger than he could ever imagined. 2) Get great teammates: The founders got around them a great group of people as the company grew. They brought in the investment company that gave money to Google when it first started, so it positioned them well as the company grew." Hey everyone...I posted this on TechCrunch..wondering if anyone has an answer?... Does anyone know what made YouTube succeed (eg take off in such a short period) while the other 100+ video services just sat there? For the LIFE of me, I can’t figure it out. What made YT different? Same thing with MySpace? There has GOT to be a common theme btw these sites that just blow up and the ones that just flounder? Anyone know? Someone has got to know the answer out there…
Well, for a start videos have become addictive and very viral. The site is well designed and easy to use and navigate plus it is really easier to put your videos on Youtube. They probably done their advertising and branding much better than the other video sites aswell.
I did a quick search on various terms "online swap" "swap items" "swop items" etc... your site is no where to be found. You probably need to spend some serious marketing dollar to get it up on front page and build up brand awareness first.
