Can i have trademark domain with other extension?

Hello

I have one very interesting question about domains with trademark.

If i have extension on INFO for some famous domain, can i use it or no?

I mean not some domains like google,yahoo,facebook,bing...etc

If i have a trademark domain for my country and that famous domain is in com extension.

Can i register firm on that name and i will be protected? Thanks

 

Register, certainly you can. Protected, that's really harder to say.

A question to ask yourself is why are you even considering the thought of registering
a domain name whose term/s you know is also being used as a trademark. If you are
pondering doing that to continue riding on someone's mark, the answer is a likely no.

As lawyers would say, it depends. There is no one surefire answer....except maybe it
depends on who you're potentially dealing with.

 

i now people had to give up the domain but got good money for it

 

If the company is a major conglomerate they will have the finances to seize the .info TLD. So it's not really worth it infringing on another entity's trademark. Unless this company does not have their trademark registered internationally. I forget the company in Germany that's fighting a U.S. Company with the same name which claims it's violating it's trademark. Really though it's simply not worth it. Come up with your own unique TLD name.

Now i have other important question for that.

If i have that famous domain which is good in my country on other extension, can i change example to games website.Example that famous domain name have content about news and if i change content to games i will have same traffic because i am on first page of that famous domain.?

Is better to stay and write about news or i can change content on my other extension,in this case to be for games,not for news?

Did i will have same traffic and visitors? I ask you that if i change content maybe i can make more interesting content,for my extension and can be interesting more then news website.

IMO you should keep news site as it is. If you change the niche chances are you will loose your regular news reads and followers. Want to make a new site of games? then get a new domain name for it. or you can also add a new page category in your news site for (games news)

 

Mbitsol you mean to i stay to write about news like that site on COM, if i have same domain name but with other extension?

Then i will be on first page and i will have same visitors like he right? If content is with NEWS too? ( i not mean to copy paste his content,duplicate content)

 

A problem there is you're essentially riding on that "famous" domain, isn't it? The more unique and/or famous the mark, if any, the harder it'll be to use it even if its content is totally different.

Think registering something like facebookwidget to put up news, yet it uses Facebook's name. Something to that effect.

That's why I suggested it boils down to whom you're dealing with. No one really knows...except them, if ever.
