How does this affect my ranking? I see a site like www(dot)idcband(dot)co(dot)za and www(dot)idcband(dot)com(dot)au are almost identical sites and both rank top3 in there country based google search www.google.co.za is 2nd www.google.com.au is 3rd
If anyone knows, if im allowed to have the same site (other then a few meta tag changes and image changes) in .com.au and .co.uk and for them to still rank it would be greatly appreciated!
No they will have heavy penalties from duplicate content. Having the same content just rewritten (to the extent that its not duplicate) would allow you to still rank fine. I'd recommend making a different site design too.
Sorry, whats the keyword phrase? i see what you mean by typing in there name on the local search.. if you go to normal google.com you'll see that only one of the sites ranks for their name.. thats with 646 results which is very small.
Its for the term "wristbands" Im only interested in having my site rank for their specific country so my .com.au to rank in google.com.au and my .co.uk to rank in google.co.uk
so your talking about the sites like wristband.co.uk, wristbands.co.za and wristbands.com.au? Those sites have different content inside so they can all rank as unique sites. If I'm not getting you please tell me
wristbands.co.uk and wristbands.com.au come up and are different as they are run by different companies and the sites are different, whereas the company, idcband has sites in numerous countries suchas idcband.co.uk,and idcband.co.za the sites contents are the same yet they each rank top 3 in there specific countries search for wristbands, http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=wristbands&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB idcband.co.uk is 2nd http://www.google.co.za/search?hl=en&q=wristbands&btnG=Google+Search&meta=cr%3DcountryZA idcband.co.za is 2nd
Does this show that its fine to have duplicate content if you only want to rank in your local search engine?
Thanks, If its just a redirect, how do they have the different logos? (australian flag as opposed to south african flag)
I don't know where you live, but you need an Australian Business Number to get a .com.au in Australia......
