Maybe you should make some job done with your entire site, something like titles or h1 tags. Also it depends on a niche you're working at. In some competetive niches this submission technics will give yo nothing. I would better recommend to take a look what your competitors doing. Keep an eye on inbound links they have articles they write, other content they post. Our recommendations may confuse you because all niches are different.
SEO work is not so hard if you are targeting low competitive keyword to rank. But if you are targeting high competitive keyword you need to do onpage SEO work to rank high in search engine. Just find ways to increase your backlinks and get backlinks more than your competitors. Use the ways the above posters have said to get backlinks.
