I know you said you are looking for sites other than google, but why? is it because you already use Google and are looking for another outlet... or just don't want to use it? i've seen good results from my PPC on google...

Hey there. That's really a loaded question. There are so many different things that go into running a PPC campaign. So much in fact that there are entire books written on the subject.

Just some quick pointers. Always start your campaigns with Adwords. Test the market and keywords there. Reason-being, they'll list your keywords within a few minutes and you can test things really fast.

Always track which keywords are converting profits. That huge. If you don't know which keywords are converting and which aren't, you'll be spending unnecessary money.

The more keywords and keyword phrases you can come up with, the better off, in general, you are and the cheaper keywords you'll be able to find.

Once you figure out which keywords are turning a profit, then you can roll it out to Yahoo.

Back to Google adwords, when testing your keywords, it's usually best to turn off the option that allows your ad to be shown on Google "content network". These are sites that display adsense ads. Typically, this will really lower your conversion rate, so I'd unselect that option right away.

You can play with it later, once you know which keywords are converting into sales for you.

As for further education, I'd go with Perry Marshall's Definitive Guide To Google Adwords. Just do a Google search on it. The course is excellent.

    Hope that helps a little.

No, in this case you probably won't find anything better than AdWords and Overture. There are many other small PPC programs like 7search, but most of them rely on paid surfers (= bad conversions) to bring you traffic.
