so there are tools to check for duplicate content. but it is not enough because according to google panda, unique content is not enough and we need "good" content. of course they dont tell us what "good" means..... so, will building more links help? thanks
If you create good and unique quality content then you don't have to worry much for building links people will link to you themselves. Google also states this is its webmaster guidelines that create a site that offers useful stuff to the visitors and they'll link to you by themselves.
I don't think if you build more backlinks for your site. You need non-duplicated content especially that passes copyscape test with flying colors. Got it?
I have plenty of people link to mine ... getting links from ask.com, lots of blogs, not one of these links I have asked for, people just make them themselves. But I keep losing ranking, it is very annoying. I don't know what google wants. It gives me 20k visitors a day one week, 7k the next. #1 ranking one day, #9 the next. No consistency at all.
If you already have links, link-building probably won't do any good. Apparently, you need to deindex 'thin' content. Pages with short articles, pages with almost no content, etc. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-goog...-seo-best-practices-forever-whiteboard-friday
