So we are a plumbig company and have several websites for different cities.. example: plumbercity dot com They all start with plumber and end with the city we service. The content is similiar with the services we provide but each service description has different content then other sites. Is this legal or should I be worried?
As long as each website has unique content and nothing duplicated across all the sites, you should be fine. You would still have to be careful that those websites are not linked together and they each also have unique link profiles. Personally I think you would do better with one large website with subpages to target those different cities. When you have many websites, you have to market each one separately and that can add up to a lot of work. If you are just marketing one website, all of your efforts help all of your rankings.
Thanks for the response. Why wouldn't be ok to have link one my website that leads to another one? I thought that helps with building links?
Then those are a lot of domains you are going to buy. It isn't worth the money, because you can easily find links to get quality link backs rather than buying PR 0 domains that expire in a year.
I agree.. As long as you work on changing the content and keywords slightly you should be all good. I wouldn't put up too many sites, but a small number should be okay.
I would just build up one site instead of trying to build multiple ones. Strength in numbers and since you're building the sites from scratch, they wouldn't help each other b/c of a 0 page rank. Also the managing of different sites becomes a hassle and tedious over time.
