I made this site on APR 18. Since then I have accumulated 482 members. I am not sure if that is good or bad.

Anyway, today I checked the website called websiteoutlook and it says my site is now pagerank 1 and worth over 1K

Is that a fair assesment of the site or is that an inflkated number.

I have been checking it like every week there and it has constantly gone up but I am new at this and I do not know what I did right or wrong with it.

The site is getting about 50 visitors per day but I have not done any advertisement on it other than telling my friends and them telling others.

Please someone tell me where to get a fair assesment of what I have done so far

The site is this : Red Social de Puerto Rico

It sounds like you have done a great job so far. Do not rely on free tools that give a site an estimated dollar value though. These tools are completely inaccurate. To measure your success look at things like income, traffic and search engine rankings. Sites like these can grow quite well through word of mouth. To speed things up, try regularly building backlinks to your site.

i don't actually understand how these tools work - things change so often and there are so many outside factors that surely a tool cannot give an accurate valuation of a website.

at the rate you're going i would continue to work on it anyway, and not consider selling. seems like you're doing well!

You have done very well for only being a couple of months old. I really like your idea of creating a localized social networking site. Keep promoting your definatley on the right path, though a PR 1 site usually doesn't go for a thousand I think that is a little inflated.

haha yeah those website outlook things suck.

they base the value of my website at around $1000 but yet my domain name has redirected to a myspace page for the past 2 years. (previously I was getting a fair bit of seo traffic 100 uniques a day or so)

Usually owners of websites do SEO for their websites to generate traffic. The major Offpage SEO which you claim that you haven't done and On Page SEO. I think you have done a nice job with On Page SEO. i.e. related designing part of the website. If it is good, you will certainly attract the Search Engines. And however good job done.

And value assessment of sites are made with their own strategies. So we cannot tell that the site is perfectly right or not. You just check it on other sites also.

Thank you all for your opinions. However I can only reply once but here on this answer I lack to understand the ON PAGE SEO and OFF page SEO terms.

Like I said I am very new at this and this is my very first site ever. I did purchase another site prior to this but I sold it already and this Social network is my work from ground up so.

    This I have done are:

After installing the script(socialEngine) Very expensive BTW with all plugins, I created a sitemap before any information was put into it.

I am not sure if that was good or bad but I know GoogleBot was all over the site within a 24 hour period.

Then I told all of my friends. In turn I guess they told all of their friends and within a week I had about 60 members.

I go into the site every day and talk to all of the guys that come in. Also I made the Tom Mod so i become friends with all newcvomers and it gives them someone to talk to at least:eek:

Then I started to post regularly on the forum and created more interaction.
I guess what you mean as ONPAGE SEO is just that. to keep going in and creating more content even if it is dumb content. Like most word games I have created.

Please tell me if I am in the ballpark with the term and if not please take a minute to dumb it down to my level

    Thanks all

OHHH I did a search on Google and I guess people started talking about the site. I saw that topix.com links to my site several times. I did do a press release in one of thos free release sites but I do not think is visible to anyone since I cannot find it myself.

Also how is it posible that I am getting #1 spot on Googl search for the hottest keyword phrase for my site?

red social boricua = #1 spot on google and means Puerto Rico social network I think that is what is getting all the traffic. I talked to one of the newest members and he said he saw the link on MSN. But I have not submitted to MSN yet.

Am I just getting really lucky or is this somewhat normal when the Niche is one that is not exploited?

To my knowledge there are only about 20 Puerto Rico social networks, but I guess since they are mostly NING sites they are not recognized well.(that is my assuption) (remember a Newbie).

Well I guess I am going to keep at it. I am noit into this site to sell but to buid it up as big as possible.

I also do not like it but I don't know much about this and it used to be green and I made it that color. I have to keep trying until I find the right mix of tones.

    Thanks for an honest assesment.
