I have been tweaking the SEO for my website http://www.quoteforinsurance.com . Can a few of you look it over for me and give me pointers and feedback. Things I'm concerned about: # of links on home page? Too many or not enough? Keyword density? Image Alt text? Too much or need more? Overall site navagation? Please rate from 1 to 10 (poor to excellent) and pointers to improve it if any. Anyother suggestions. Thanks in advance. Hubert
Looks abit keyword overstuffed if you ask me : Check this little tool to see what a sim spider can see. Your keyword density is atm: Total Words: 92 Occurrences : 665 Count Word Density 195 insurance 29.32% 2 Word Phrases: 61 Occurrences : 389 Count Word Density 37 life insurance 9.51% 3 Word Phrases: 60 Occurrences : 210 Count Word Density 13 insurance life insurance 6.19% You can read some more about keyword density , here , or here . At the moment it is recommend by Google not to have more then 100 outgoing links per page. Im not a fan of having tables on the right instead of the left . Most people tend to view a page first at the left of the page and then the middle. And most people tend to read from left to right so im more a fan of having my tables etc navigation to the left. Why did you add so much info on the first page? Why not split it up into more subpages. It will be easier to navigate.
Thank you for the review. I will look over the homepage and make some adjustments. I may drop or (skim down) the whole Articles section on the page. I was doing that to hit some key points for all four products, but I agree it could be overkill. As far as navigation goes, My main goal is for people to complete the quote box for a quote on auto, home, health or life insurance. My actual site navigation is at the top and bottom. I have been playing with the idea of moving the bottom or duplicating the important parts on the left side. I really want to avoid page clutter. That is a pet peeve of mine. Keep the reviews coming guys. Much appreciated
Crazyhorse, I have created a revised homepage at http://www.quoteforinsurance.com/blank.html What do you think of the revision?
Thanks for the input. Now I hope that the SERPS don't hit me too hard about the revision. Hopefully it'll move up rather than down.
Second ever so much better than first. For tiny text I find a non-serif font much easier to read. Shannon
Here are a few ideas: CSS to reduce code bloat. Robots.txt file to direct spiders. Minimize keyword stuffing. CSS "Absolute Positioning" and "Table Trick" to get your H1 and First Paragraph at the top of the page's code. Hope that helps.
ResaleBroker, Do you know of an easy to follow tutorial on the last point in your post? I have been looking for a way to do that and have had no luck thus far.
Here are a few links for "Absolute Positioning" tutorials. The "Table Trick" is really quite easy. Here is a tutorial. Here is an example of both in action.
interesting. Looks good and professional, I'd say to put in more photos. Any empty space looks bland (of course, don't clutter)
ResaleBroker, I think I have the "Table Trick" part worked out at http://www.quoteforinsurance.com/aaa.html . But it seems to be loading very slow. Is it loading slow for you?
Update. Wow. Google has already Cached my new layout. Really didn't expect it this fast. Also, showing positive movement up in Google today. Hope it continues. I would still like to hear any other you may have.
I have noticed a drop of about 50 places in Google SERPs since I have made changes to my site. I loaded everything up a few days ago. Is this typical and I should expect a rebound, or is this a sign that Google has frowned upon the changes I've made?
