I have a debit card. But to get a credit card you need a regular paying job.

If you make few amounts FD's in banks like ICICI,HDFC or AXIS bank then they will provide you CC. Ask this to your branch if you have an account with any of them.

    DON.

Adsense incomes can bring you a CC. If you are having a job, you are salaried. If you are making money online, you are self employed. And banks have schemes for self employed people also. Just contact your nearest branch to know details :)

If you make money online from adsense or Paypal transfers to your bank account, then you're liable to pay tax, according to current Income Tax Rules.

If you are having problems in getting CC than you ca do a fixed deposit (FD) with that bank and get a CC. You will get that much credit limit as is your deposit. :D

get an icici bank account, keep 10k+ INR in your account and they will give you the credit card in no time!

i contacted SBI for a credit card, they told me to either get married :D or get a 12 Lakh INR life insurence  or simply get a job
so i quit my plans of getting an SBI credit card straight away, though when i will be 27+ years old they will give me a credit card without all these conditions, anyways... am 23+ it will take ages,

Thank you for your information. But i doubt due to global economic meltdown, private banks will give cc to fixed deposit account holders.

Though i will ask the banks officials

i asked icici bank some 1+ years back, they told me that i just have to open an account, and put some funds - 5 to 10 thousand Rs. and they will give me the credit card, [no fixed deposits, etc.]

I had the addon card that's still doing all that needs to be done, so i just acted lazy and did not bothered to get the account or credit card. Don't know if they changed their rules, but still ask them... and let us know.

on the contrary, it makes more sense for the banks to give CC against fixed deposits.

the fixed deposit acts as a security against default and thus banks never lose any money on such cards.

the interest charged on such credit cards (secured credit cards) is around 1% compared to the usual 3% on non-secured credit cards.
