Until yesterday, I never knew there was a means to see the history of my sites traffic hourly. I was doing some SEO research and came across a video (not sure of the link anymore) that was showing some analytics techniques and I noticed the video showed them tracking graph with an hourly tab. I thought this would be great to help me learn what time of the day to submit new content. (post multiple new content during weekdays) Unfortunately when I went to my analytics account, the hourly tab wasn't there (just day, week, month). Is this just an old video I was watching and since its taping google has removed this option? Like I said, this information would be great for my own personal posting habits to be tailored to my audience, but if it's gone, it's gone and I'll stop my search. Thanks in advance, -MC
I don't think you can do this with GA, I think the stats are updated less frequently. I use GA along with getclicky to see instant stats on my site, you can even follow an individual visitor.
My site is a wordpress theme, will there be any issue using both GA and clicky? Does the code from either bother the other? Thanks for the info, -MC
You can do it by hour. 1) Go to the dashboard 2) On the Site Usage heading, click "Visits" 3) At the top right, you can graph by a number of variables - click on the clock icon to see the data by hour
You can use google analytics tool it self for getting the hourly updates,I have used it and found it has the best tool for getting hourly traffic report.
I've been using Analytics for years but never knew I could see an hourly breakdown! I think Google Analytics takes 2-3 hours to update stats for the current day
Thk u for this!yeh, Google takes 2-3 hours to update stats for the current day, so we can do that waiting for it !
I've been using GA for about 6 months already and this technique seems to be really cool because I can now track how many visits per hour. Thanks dude.
The raw data gets updated at a time lag of 2-3 hours - that being page urls and page views.. All the other metrics are calculated from that, and get updated at 24 hour intervals.
Not that I am getting serious traffic yet, I'm sure in the future I will be, so would utilise this to benefit my timings for publishing new content. I wasn't aware of the 2-3 hour lag though, so thanks for informing me about it!
