Hi all I know this question has been asked many times before and most of you would say it is not possible to get listed there but i still found quite a few webmasters here on DP whose site is listed on DMOZ. I request all those to share what according to them they did correct and all those who failed - what was the main reason behind you not getting through. May be we will find answers this way I submitted one of my sites that i created 5 months back but m still awaiting a response. I think I submitted my site too early. I should have got a few regular visitors first. I will be doing this for my second site. Hope i succeed.
Can I ever get listed on DMOZ ??? NO...... If you couldnt find the right category Here at DP to post this question then i doubt you found the right category in directory so it was denied. Just kidding....Try here DMOZ thread thx malcolm
Try doing what cops do in films when the bad guy is withholding some of the information, flash the Benjamin's Im only joking of course.
Lol none of mine are listed there that im aware of. I used to submit there in 2005 i think, sort of dont think about dmoz till someone starts a thread in this section about it. Im listed in the other moz's though
Everyone is welcome to suggest sites to DMOZ, but only editors can add them. Furthermore, when looking for sites to add to the directory, volunteers look in all sorts of places, not just the pool of suggestions. So it is absolutely possible that your site will be listed, but that may be completely unrelated to whether or not you suggested it. As I have previously explained, I have added almost 25,000 sites to the directory, but only a few hundred of those were suggested by other people. So thank you for your suggestion, but we make no promises at all about if or when we will review it or list it. Fortunately there are plenty of other directories who do make such promises, so your needs may be better met there.
There is no secret, just read the guidelines to ensure that your site complies. You can give it an "edge" if you submit to the correct category, write a title and description that match to the guidelines. Doing the following will NOT help submitting more than once submitting to several categories submitting to the wrong category because there is a named editor Badgering any editor to try and get them to look at your site This will not help it either having a good page rank having many visitors (unless one happens to be an editor mining for sites) having a flash, eye catching site having a mature site (new sites , except for forum types, are just as listable as older sites) We cannot tell you how long it will take, but one day an editor will review the site and, if, as I have said above, the site is guideline compliant, it will be listed. You will not be notified if it is listed nor if it is rejected. Best rules Check guidelines Submit Go do something else with your life Come back at times and put your site URL (minus www) into our search facility to see if you have been listed.
I really did think you could read, but seems not If you had cared to follow my post you would have read about unique content and other matters in the guidelines. But you should know those off by heart with your vast editing experience.
Mind quoting the line from your post above that mentioned unique content, or content for that matter? I pointed to the guidelines in even more detail then your post above and did not specifically mention unique content. My advice was shaky, therefore yours must be also. Correct? If I am wrong, then mind bumping that other thread where I was called on this issue and stating that I am in fact correct?
No wonder you said somewhere else that you thought posting on here was "fun". But you are getting boring always trying to dredge up an issues about th guidelines, always trying to twist some words. Sadly I think some people actually come for some help, but bitter ex-editors, who now regret jumping ship keep twisting and manipulating words and comments. But I guess if one is twisted then one twists everything else. I will only comment this once on your posts, Q. If I had wished to give a complete explanation about ODP I would have included more than the post I made, I wanted to underline some issues but suggested that for a full explanation one should read the guidelines and pointed out one or two facts like new or mature sites make no difference to us. I will copy the relevant parts of my post so you don't have to bother scrolling back, but I guess if you could not read and understand it the first time, then you won't the second, don't worry they can cure anything these days
