Can I do this?

Sorry for the name of the topic but couldn't find a better one :(

I have google ads in my forum but the incomes have been quite disappointing. If I create a special subforum (only acessible to some trustworthy members and invisible to every other) to encourage members to click in the ads, is there any possibility google bots access to it so then I'm screwed?

I would advise against it. If Google finds out that you are asking people to click they will ban you. They will see lots of clicks coming from the same IP address/host name so there's a good chance they will figure it out.

Google is known to kill accounts without any hard evidence too.

I wouldnt even go near that route. Google is a lot smarter than we sometimes give them credit. They will notice a high CTR in that certain section of your sebsite and I am sure they will take a look. Dont risk a ban. Mess with placement, blending, grow the forum and you'll be fine. Adsense is not an instant money maker. It takes time to develop. Once you have a working model then you can replicate it.

I understand, but is there any possibility they can indeed check if I'm asking them to do so? What I really mean with this topic is to ask if the google has any possibility to acess hidden subforums...

About too many clicks from the same IP address it shouldn't be like that. Let's say if I wanted to screw someone I would click on his ads 30 times a day everyday. It wouldn't be fair if they banned someone based on that.

Take everybody's advice. Don't do it. I mean, its common sense, you are asking people to click your ads.

Ok, I won't do it, since you certainly have more experience than I do (that's why I came here in the first place), though I still am not totally convinced. I have about 4000 impressions a day and only 4 or 5 clicks, it's quite crappy. I know by the TOS I can't ask anyone to click in the ads, but if google can't check I'm doing so what would be the big deal?

Google has definitely killed accounts for less. But feel free to try it if you want.

What you are really asking is whether it is ok to get 'trusted' friends to commit fraud so that you can gain money.

That is what you are doing when you ask people to click on ads and then Google COULD request access to the content through legal enforcement to help with fraud enquiries.

    To put it another way...

How would you feel if you were an adwords advertiser and you knew your 'trusted' friends were clicking on ads in the network and they just happened to find an advert you placed and then kept clicking it repeatedly?

In the long-run there is only one thing that will happen to you and that is that you will be banned for life from using Google Adsense.

Absolutely, I have 100% confidence they wouldn't do so.

Still I can't undestand why you say I'd get banned. If I have 4000 impressions a day and I get only 4 or 5 clicks every day how would Google know I would be advertising their ads? I have the messenger contact of all of the members, I could advertise that way and there it would be totally impossible for google to check if I'm advertising. Let's say I pass from 5 clicks a day to 15 or 20, all by different ip addresses. How the hell would they know what I'm doing?

You are free to make your choices, even though fraud is a crime, you want to commit a crime, encourage others to commit the crime so that you can earn a few dollars... just don't post a thread saying that google banned you.

You don't think google would think it's suspicious that you have the same amount of impressions but suddenly you went from 4 p 5 clicks to 15 - 20 overnight?

Even if your site is "protected" google can see what URL the ads are showing on.

Anyway give it a try and let us know how it works :)

About that I have a very low CTR (today about 0.20%) so I think that wouldn't raise suspictions...

That is easy to solve, I ask the members not to click when they are in that subforum

I preferred not doing so but I see no valid reason why I shouldn't do it so I think I'll definitely try it out.

Nevermind Google, you shouldn't do it because you are stealing money from advertisers. Don't be a douche. And yeah, you will be caught.

I had the same idea when i created my first site (a MFA one about mesothelioma) and DP members talked me out of it. Its not worth risking your account, integrity and looking like an idiot to your members. Basically, you're telling them that you can't make money by yourself, and that you need to whore yourself for clicks worth a couple of bucks a day. Stick to the honest route and it will pay off eventually.
