My main website was built with Wordpress. Last year, I created a new folder (not subdomain) to build a social network service for testing with a software which is also well known, but later I found this SNS was unsuccessful, so I did not use it. It's been quite a while, and I haven't delete it yet. Can I delete it now? As there are some hundreds of pages under SNS that have been indexed in Google, will I be penalized by Google if I delete the whole folder now? Thank you very much!
Use webmaster tool for this go to webmaster and select "Crawler access" now you see this option "Remove URL" click and you see "new removal requests" press and add your URL one by one with in 24hours Google deindex your links. Thanks Jawad Satti
I don't think you'd be penalized by Google if you do delete it. You can do as Jawad suggested. If you will no longer need the pages then go ahead delete them. There's no need for redirects if you will no longer be needing those pages/articles.
Sure you can delete the old links. Everyone does it when they make newer versions of the sites or just pull down new pages and put up new ones so why not you?
