can i create a professional looking website(not blog) with wordpress?

Is wordpress just for making blogs or can I make a professional looking website with it? I want to create a review website where people can write their own reviews on various product? Which tool will be better than wordpress for this purpose?

Have you read up about Joomla? It seems to be the right CMS for your purpose. (Professional with many components [reviews])

 

Why cant you use a forums so ppl can discuss on various products ?

Wordpress is also a good option .

 

WordPress can be used to make a professional looking webstite, I've done it myself. However you'll be limited in what you can do with it since it's really meant for blogging.

Drupal IMO is the best CMS if you wanna have user submitted content of any nature.

 

Wordpress, can be made into anything. The Template is just a work of some simple coding, anybody who has knowledge can do miracles with it. And Yes Wordpress can be made into a Complete Professional Website quite easily.

 

Absolutely, you can use WordPress to make a professional looking website. I've even seen it used to create an online store.

 

Right now, CMS's like Joomla or Drupal offer you more flexibility and are pretty good solutions.

But WordPress is fast moving from a blog CMS to a full blown one. My hunch is that every day, there are more and more features with it and it's a solid, solid program.

There are lots of WordPress guys out there. If you CAN get what you want out of WordPress, I'd recommend going that way since it's only going to get better.

If you have to make too many compromises to get what you want, Joomla or Drupal are good alternatives that you shouldn't worry about.

But joomla or drupal will be more suited for a site like the one you want to create.

if you go with a joomla site you will want to pick up a plugin/extension called Community Builder. look for it on the main joomla website.

 

Well..my site will also be containing lots of affiliate links..so are there any free free plugins in joomla & drupal to hide them from Google slap?

 

I have seen and downloaded some pro looking WP themes that will give your site the look that you want. I have read that there is WP CMS plugin that is a good news since this is a hint of where WP is going. I also like how WP is very SE friendly.
