Hello everyone I run a good Blogger blog on the topic of penny auctions. I think I have a good deal of targeted traffic. I was looking for a way to capture email ids of people. Basically I want to write a small report and give it away free, just like affiliate marketers do (but I don't have anything to sell ... yet!) I don't want to move my blog to a website. Is there any way this can be done on Blogger? Any help will be highly appreciated
Look at a service such as aWeber. They do all the heavy lifting, and they make it easy to add the needed forms to the blog with javascript. And yes, it will cost you money. Blogger does not have anything built into it that will handle this. Even with a self-hosted WordPress blog, you will need some form of premium service to handle this effectively.
Ah thanks I'll check it out. I wasn't looking for a freebie I understand it will cost money. However, if it gives me good results, I thought I should try it out. Thanks for your help, appreciate it
There are other services besides aWeber. If you are just interested in email lists and being able to broadcast newsletters, then you can try ConstantContact, MailChimp, et al. Some of these services also have trial accounts where they allow up to X amount of addressees. Don't expect that to go over 250, which is the limit on a single email SMTP relay limit. (Actually, I got around this by setting up a chain of SMTP accounts and kept track of the count. With 10 accounts, you can send out a couple of thousand emails. )
Dodger, I would really like to know more. I would be fine with a trial account because I just want to try. I can always buy if I get good results. I doubt if I can go over 250 anyway - I blog in a very narrow niche anyway. However, I do want to give it a shot. Is there any specific service that you would recommend. At least for now, I don't see getting over 50-100 mail ids. I want to gain experience as well before venturing out with a website of my own. Would greatly appreciate your help.
I don't use any of them personally. I have just set up some optin forms for a couple of people on their blogs. You will have to check them out to see what the limits are on the free accounts. MailChimp may be a good place to start however. They have a free account where you can store 1,000 subscriber names and are able to deliver up to 6,000 emails a month. More information can be found at MailChimp For Bloggers. The idea about using multiple SMTP accounts was a different animal altogether. That person already had a method of maintaining an email contact list, and I use an external PC application to send the actual emails with. Thus the creation of multiple accounts just to send thousands of newsletters every day.
You can create a good google form where in you can get their Email Id's and they can be found in your Docs.google.com
I don't see how I can add a Google form to a webpage. It simply gives the form to post to friends etc. Is it possible to get the code for Google form?
