Can I be banned by Google for one keyphrase only?

I just read there is a seo contest going on starting on 15th january,

find the thread where they give away a car and a plasma tv, that's the one
I'm talking about.

...and consider participating you two. I'm currently not convinced you make
the first 100 or 200 results, but hey maybe there is more to you than meets the eye?

In case you join, I will too, and show you how to eat a few "would be gurus"
for breakfast. Now that would be hilarious stuff we could laugh about for a while, wouldn't it?

 

The web is full of information about penalisation of gathering backlinks to fast, from SEO experts and known internet marketers. Just do a search for "sandbox inbound links too fast" or "inbound links too fast" for example, and also very recent writings like in the ranking storm report from Winston Yap and Thomas Choo.

I think that a competitor will damage you by setting up a bad link campaign is rather unrealistic. All the information in the web that i found and that comes up, when doing those searches above speak against that theory.

 

I have noticed recently something like that, and I assumed that it is a glitch and I am still waiting to see the old results. But if the results still the same, it means that Google moving so far in its SEO killing process.
