Can I ask how paying for links works?

Sorry if this is the wrong section.
How does paying for links work? I assume you just send the person you are paying money via paypal or whatever and have to just trust that they will put your link on their website?
What's the least riskiest way to do it?

make sure the person has a good itrader, so that your know they are reputable.

 

I have always wondered how you know who is good it even seems like on this forum there is alot of sales techniques going on and it's hard to tell what will work .

 

I would stay away from paid links...

You can buy backlinks for your site from this forum. It's always a good idea to deal with users that have at least some iTrader. The more the better obviously.
Try to buy high quality backlinks from sites with few outbound links, unique content, older domains, lots of backlinks... you got the idea.
