So I have a question-answer site using wordpress theme from themeflicks.com. I have the feeling that my site will become huge, i hope it will hits 100k visitors aday in 2 years.

However the site is currently lack of lot of features eg: friends request, sending messages, and leave comments between user profiles.

I want to eventually make a powerful site like www.answerbag.com www.funadvice.com or www.blurtit.com , but i know wordpress just cant do it.

What is the solution for this? I know i will need to hire php developer soon but can it be done? Can wordpress be migrated to other site?

    thanks alot.

Yes, a good developer can migrate from anything to anything. WordPress to Joomla, WordPress to custom system.... the limit is only set by the developer you choose. So just make sure you choose a good one :)

It would probably be most cost-effective to get this done now, rather than waiting - but that depends on how sure you are that it will take off.

WordPress can do what you're asking, but it isn't what it's designed for and you might run into issues - infact it's almost certain.

That's like asking someone who is moving from their 2 bed terrace into a 5 bed detached to move into a city centre studio apartment because it has more room.

Gotta agree with that statement. :)

If you want to get more performance out of WordPress, you can buy more time by putting it on a dedicated server with a SSD (solid state drive) hard drive (speeds up all those inefficient MySQL queries). However, if you want to go really big, you'll be better off getting something custom developed, and then migrating the WordPress data to your new script.

i think all you needs are :
    1. Save your data
    2. Make plans what kind of website that you going to build
    3. Hire programmer

or you can try the simple one
Create plugin that can accommodate your needed but it also need programmer
