Can Google sand box specific keywords?

Does anybody know if Google can sandbox certain keywords but not others, so some do not appear in the SERPs, but some do? Or does the whole of the rankings get affected by sandboxing?

    Thanks :)

Matt Cutt's has stated that the sandbox (although they call it something different) ONLY applies to certain keywords.

The more competitive the keyword, the more likely it is subject to the sandbox.

I don't know where he said it, but I got sandboxed for a specific keyword about 6 months ago.

Yep, usually it is for a specific keyword. One of my main keywords got sandboxed recently but am still ranking relatively fine for others.

I experienced the sandbox for a specific keywords also. Lastly my site has been improving in SERP, and when I started to see some high competition SERP result, I decided to optimise my home page for a even more competitive keyword which I was ranking 28th. After the update of my site and the next cache of google, I landed 2nd position, 3 days later, I was in the 102th position. since then im still 102.

I do believe this is sandbox, because I had the result and optimisation for a 2nd place.

    Hmm
Thanks for the share guys - it seems to make sense to me now - I have a site that ranks very well in the serps but just can not manage to get it ranked for a few other competative keywords.

Anyhow I will continue with my optimisation and hope when i do come out of the sandbox i will also land a high position

    cheers

This happened to me as well. I wrote an article that had TONS of competition (like over 5 million). Within days I was on page 1. Within a few days though, the poor article was sandboxed and nowhere to be found.

I wrote another article that had less competition (5,000) and my article stayed. Even though it was 5,000, I was the only one that wrote an article at Ezine Articles for my EXACT keywords.

it doesn't matter if few of your k/w are sand boxed then it would affect the others also..normally google sandboxed only those keywords for which you are getting more traffic then normally ..you d not....specially in a small time...just check to see whether you are getting all the natural links or not...
