hi after discovering that i got much visitors from google.co.in i tried this tool from digitalpoint http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/website-country/?ip=www.justcar.net and got the result that my website is physically in india. after telling this to my hosting provider they told me that all servers are in miami. what do you think about this
Yep, your site is in India. It doesn't matter where the server is actually located, its about where the IP address resolves to. Get it moved to the country you want your visitors to come from. Your host sounds a bit crap.
yes nowadays they drive me mad its jodohost has 24h online support but im not sure it really acts like a support. what do i have to do now?
Registered to India... http://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=! NET-204-14-108-64-1 Although looks like it was a reassignment by the provider in Florida, so the servers probably ARE in Florida. http://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=! NET-204-14-104-0-1
That is bizarre. I wonder how many of the geotargetting databases would correctly report that the servers are in Florida?
All that really matters is what the search engines think the location is. I suspect they think its India.
yes google thinks that all my sites hosted there are in india and does not send real usa visitors but so much from co.in results. its so interesting, what do i have tell my hosting firm to do
Hello, 100% of our servers are in Miami, FL. Our IP space is swipped to us, and ip2location shows it to be india mistakenly, I have mailed them a few times with no reply. All you have to do is a tracert to see that it is in Miami Florida with internap being the primary carrier. As for search engines, we are on the same IP space and get 80% of traffic from google.com not google.co.in
I am telling you the facts, as I put the servers in the datacenter myself, I can access the cage and change them out, and I do this in Miami, FL. I told you that I have repeatedly mailed the ip2location services to tell them of this, and you are free to not believe this, but I speak the truth in saying it is in Miami, and the facts back it up.
The issue isn't with the location that ip2location is giving its with the location that google and the other search engines are using. I am pretty sure they use their own databases rather than relying on ip2location or maxmind. If G/Y/MSN think the sites are located in India then you have problems. Obviously the servers aren't in India but if the search engines think they are then thats all that matters.
Just a suggestion. Assuming kocaarslan is on a shared hosting plan you could transfer his account to a server with an IP that translates correctly to the USA. I am using geolocation on my servers with no problems that I am aware ... thanks for pointing out the descripancy. kocaarslan ... do you have updated IP databases or the trail database ?
Well that is the "odd" part, the IPs are all SWIPed to same place, and about 40% of them show india and 60% US/Miami properly. We have a vast amount of IP space, and we are working on getting all to show the valid information, but what baffles me here is the thinking behind the geo location. OK say you are a company in Santa Clara, CA, you get IP space and have the address as Santa Clara where your main office is, but you have your servers in Chicago. Geo IP shows Santa Clara when the IP is in Chicago becasue the company has an office In Santa Clara? This should not be, but seems to be the case.
now it is ok seems in miami, this shows that it was a solvable problem but have been so hard to tell this, your supporters always told that it was not a problem about you. anyway thanks for solution both jodohost and you all replying friends
