I was wondering if employers can check Facebook pages, because I hear some of them are starting to do it. If your page is viewable to friends only, will they be able to see it?
You've answered your own question - if it's viewable to friends only, your employer will only see it if you've put them on your friends list.
There are stories in the UK of employees being fired over things employers have seen on their social networking sites. I believe that at least one such case at an employment tribunal hearing over alleged unfair dismissal has been decided in the employer's favour.
I'd have to say be careful of what you post on your facebook page. I have friends applying to law firms who have been told to clean up their pages.
