I was considering producing a Website that would function like this one.

    http://www.gigmasters.com

    1. Must be able to upload Vids to Site
    2. Sell Memberships
    3. Track or List Bands or Groups per city

    What say you?

    ...can Drupal handle this?

I think Drupal can, but you will need a developer, maybe, to put it up toghether, I can see lots of work there..

Drupal can definitely handle everything you said, however it does have quite the learning curve which is probably why a developer was suggested. This assumes you're not a developer yourself, you need to get the site up fairly quickly, and you aren't willing to spend your evenings for the forseeable future figuring out wtf crazy thing Drupal is doing now and how to fix it.

If you are willing to do that...welcome to the self-taught developer club :D

    Thanks Kira...

I started building websites years ago as an amartuer...and still consider myself one. However, it seems to me that if you want anything done these days...you have to do it yourself (or at least have a good working knowledge of the subject IN ORDER to protect yourself from getting Ripped off).

I've glanced at Drupal and it seems to be easier than learning other programs...but we will see. Gotta put your mind to it...and apply yourself.

BTW. Who is that in your Avatar? Looks very Nice!

You can certainly do this with Drupal... and unless you are a PHP wizard, you can do it easier than with most other CMSs.

That being said, there is a learning curve. Its steeper than some of the other CMSs, but the tradeoff is that you have much more flexibility and a fantastic community.

Depending on your budget, you may want to get a drupal developer involved to help you plan the project and get you going. I often act as a "drupal lifeguard" for clients who are self directed. Even if you end up doing most of the work yourself, you can cut the dev time by an incredible degree (50-90% shorter) if you have a clear plan.

    - create content types for your profiles
    - use taxonomy to organize
    - use views to display, sort and search

You should plan on doing ALOT of planning - mockups, user stories and as detailed a plan as possible. It will make the dev much faster and get you useable quick. I'd also advise that you focus on structure and function first, and then work on detailed design work until last.

Uploading videos can be a problem - it takes a ton of storage and most webhosts won't allow you to use ffmpeg to automatically convert the videos. Assuming the videos are public, your users can simply post them online (youtube, blip, etc.) and then you can use the embedded media field to pull them in.

Paid membership - you can use Ubercart, but thats a really robust cart system. If you are only doing membership (and won't be selling/shipping products), then the LM paypal module will work for you.

    Have fun!

    Yes Drupal can do this.
If you are willing to spend some money, I will be willing to build you the site + design.

Drupal can do this but you will need to spend a lot of sleepless nights and crazy hours trying to fix errors on each module you add :)

Well, I think that Drupal is probably the best CMS I know of, but we cannot forget this: it is a CMS and you can develop modules specially for some requirements, but when you want to have a web site with many speciallized things, where requirements are complicated, I will suggest you to make develop it as you want and with a model that will fullfil all your needs, maybe under a good framework as Symfony, Zend..
Otherwise you will have to di it all the Drupal way and find some one speciallized in Drupal

Well, as pointed before, there are no solutions out of the box, and 1 to 2 months for a minimum good developement proyect
