Hi I am new to Adwords because I only currently rely on SEO. But I have discovered 3 competitors who are enjoying big level of enquiries from their Adwords campaigns. My question is...if I took the URL’s of these sites and fed them through keyword spy and spyfu and then almost copied their Ads and targeted the same keywords, would I get the same level of enquiries coming in (assuming similar quality landing page is used)? Or am I oversimplifying this? I am already on the lookout for anyone who has keyword spy/ spyfu to help me get the competitors keyword lists for a few $'s, so let me know if you can help their too. Your input will be greatly appreciated Thx K
Of course. But dont copy competition display urls and destination urls. But how can you copy keywords. Normally campaign can see in google search, but keywords cannot be copied.

i will be using the 2 keyword tools mentioned above to check for campaign keywords. But someone told me that G will give preference to the competitor because they are "their first" and they will have better scoring...?
they have been running those keywords before you, therefore ranked up better CTR. they will be able to hold their positions easier.
Yes, depending on the niche it could be considerably more. But once you establish good CTR over time your CPC will go down. If you only have 3 competitors you shouldnt have a problem getting enough enquiries anyway. 3 competitors is nothing.
thanks for the reply again, i appreciate it! I am however confused a little on a couple of points 1. so your answer suggests that the cpc is different for every advertiser? right? 2. if the CTR determines the ranking then what's the point of using tools like spyfu and keyword spy? cheers K
1. correct. 2. spyfu and keywordspy enables you find out the what keywords they are using. Your competitors may have many thousands of keywords. Wouldnt it be great for you to steal that list without you thinking up your own?
Thats what i thought the idea was for spyfu... So i guess if i obtain their list. it saves me the same ball breaking working that they have done and developed from trial and error. I guess then in this case, i can obtain their list but i will be disadvantaged by having to spend more money due to higher cpc to achieve the same results. I may not mind the higher cost part because i happen to know that for every $2,000 they are spending, they're making around 10 times that. SO if i say end up spending say twice as much its still a good ROI, or again, is it not that simple? cheers K
basically yes, and if your ad's CTR beats their ad's CTR, you should get a higher Quality Score and then your CPC will go down.
Hi Kess070, There's another thing to consider before jumping in to spending thousands on a campaign as you mention above and that's keyword quality score. A high CTR will ultimately help you to compete on CPC, but you must also have a high QC for each keyword to actually be in a position to get the high CTR. In theory, if you copy everything that your competitors are doing then your keywords (QC, CTR, CPC) should mirror theirs, but in my experience that is not the case at least not when you first enter the PPC market. PPC can be a steep and expensive learning curve. So make sure you have a clear budget before you dive in and copy the competition.
Don't just copy the ads word for word. Change them a little. I use glyhius soft to get excellent tweaks to my ads, which are normally higher in score to the ones I copy from.
yes, they can, but, vary your words a little as ephey says, and try to include you own set of words, that can be usefull, and maybe you will get higher sucess!
You will probably get angry phone calls from the people posting the ads first (I have seen it happen)..but it's probably worth it!
i think keyword spy/spyfu is not the best choise.. Have you ever tried other tools, semrush for example..?
you know i've tried a lot of tools, but semrush is the best for my mind 'coz of it's price + stability + good info matches...it gives really exact results. I don't want to advertise here, i think it worth to try it by yourself. Cheers
