Can content be hidden?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by monet, Jun 4, 2008.

    Hello,

Currently have an SEO company under contract. When they added content
it was not visible to the customer. Does Google look down on hidden content?
If anyone wants to have a look my site it is www.monetlingerie.com.

    Thanks in advance!

I was going to say fire them for doing it, but I couldn't find anything explicitly "black-hat" after looking at your site. You do however have several on-site issues that are holding you back - issues that your SEO company should be addressing. You may want to consider having a third party conduct an SEO audit of your Web site to determine what they are (I especially recommend one who has experience in accessible easy to use Web development and information architecture as well as search engine optimization and marketing).

Google hates masking content. :) Get rid of the blackhatters and get another reputed SEO company.

PS: I recommend you search this forum, there are many great people here offering SEO services that will give you real value for your money. (No, I'm not one of them.)

There' simply no reason for "professional" to keyword stuff in #FFFFFF.

Obviously, they know the limitations of their skills and now so do you.

I would also request a refund. Your site may still get penalized. Act Fast.

    Sad news for you Monet!
Hiding content of a site = Black hat technique
you must try to search on forums and find a white hat seo, or at lease a grey hat one!

What content is hidden? I can't find it in the code. Are you sure your not cofusing it with CSS image replacement - this is quite a common technique...

I think the thread starter is referring to the poorly written alt="" attributes in the images and the JavaScript based dropdown menu.

Of course I had to revise my original statement once I took the time to actually LOOK at the Web site...

I don't think there is a hidden text anywhere - at least I didn't see any. On the other hand, there are some important optimization issues your SEO company ought to solve...

Is it possible that they flush different content based on 'user-agent'? In that case that's totally blackhat and should be avoided.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. That's in 'noscript'. I would love to hear from others about it. I tend to think that it's perfectly alright to have different content within 'noscript' tags.
