Hi, I'm a well paid C++ developer, and don't run a website. But since everyone wants unique, original, and relevant content, while they have it all along: im logs. I work for an internet company, and I had a question for the legal department, and the discussion resulted in the fact that you're the owner of your chat transcripts (the ones you send, not recieve, though consent can be requested), and emails that you send. So this can technically be done: 1. Write a proxy program to capture *specific* conversations from your IM log. (this required non-secure non-encrypted conversations), the ones you choose to make public. 2. Request the other user's consent to use the content. 3. Upload this content. Often, the discussion is about some relevant topic. The page can go like "hello visitor, this is an excerpt form a conversation that you might find helpful": My question is, will this be a "profitable" venture, even slightly.
I see what you mean, but to be quite honest, I would not see this being very profitable. Selling IM conversations even with consent from the other party does not seem like something anyone would feel the need to purchase. Especially with the way the internet lead today being completely open source, information as to what your discussing could probably be found somewhere else on the internet at no cost. *Yay 500 posts*
