I have a site that has been around for three plus years with a PR=4 for 2.5 years. Recently my website hosting company transferred me over to a new server. A couple of weeks later I noticed my HomePage went down to a PR=2 and EVERY other page of my site appears as if it is no longer indexed - No Page Rank. Traffic to the site still remains strong, about the same prior to the host server switch over. Is there something that the hosting company should have done to prevent what I am seeing (e.g. redirects/301s)?
Maybe you are on a shared IP with many other sites that engage in some wrongful SEO, which might have a bad effect on you.
Yes I am on a shared server, however the hosting company is a large firm that has been around for several years. I know they have pretty strict policies on spamming, so I would assume they would screen out bad sites/practices.

Well, it seems you are indeed using a shared server, on which 344 other domains are hosted. A current or past customer on your server might have caused problems due to some blackhat SEO, spamming, etc. which ended up penalizing you. Hosts won't be able to deliver a dedicated IP for you for a reason of "SEO" though, due to ARIN rules. So you will probably have to try another host, or get yourself a VPS. This is just my take on the whole thing, so if anyone else has another opinion, feel free to pitch in.

It's considered explicit because it contains the word "pimp". There wasn't any testing done that actually insures that and is unrelated to the problem at hand.
So if I go to a VPS, which I presume has its own unique IP address, will my Google Page Rank completely drop to Zero? Is there a way to preserve what remains of it when switching to a VPS. Any pros/cons advice on switching to a VPS would be appreciated.
The Hosting site says that they have no control over who is on the shared server. They also say that a blackhat site, or a site with explict content, would not impact other sites on the shared server.
A site with explicit content might not affect it, but a site that gets reviewed by search engines which sits on a shared IP along with others of sites could possibly affect them, though it might vary from search engine to search engine. A VPS would not continue to drop your pagerank, as long as the IP you are getting is clean you shouldn't run into problems, and it will either remain the same or grow. Alternatively make sure there is no problem on your site that might affect your rankings.
The only reason I hesitate to switch to a VPS, is that even with the lower Page Rank showing up over the past 1-2 weeks, the site traffic has not dropped off. I always thought Page Rank lags real Search Engine Results Page results.
