So now you are claiming Harvard and Yale graduated an illiterate....

I'm trying to help you out here, I really am. I almost never make mention of your devout faith in the dead ideology of Marx and Engles, but what can I say to an obviously bogus claim like the one above? Help me to help you.

Most of them are very educated but then you get people like Bush who get their degree while being practically illiterate. I suppose we should all be happy that he didn´t decide to buy a degree in Medicine, otherwise he could have even killed more people . :)

I don't understand all of everyone's hatred of guns. I really don't. Aside from the fact that if there were no guns in the hands of civilians here in the U.S., criminals, who can still have access to guns, would have an extreme less amount of fear of just breaking into your house and holding you at gunpoint because what good are police when they can shoot you, what is the big fear of guns? If they are out of access to children, I see nothing wrong with having guns for protection. I myself have a concealed handgun license to carry on my person if fully concealed. We were taught never to brandish your weapon unless you are in mortal danger and you mean to use it. At no point, have I thought about using it for crime, nor for intimidation or abuse. This simply isn't a problem for people that are responsible with them. With no guns, crime would essentially rise in certain areas, such as muggings, etc. Only people that don't understand guns are afraid of them and want anti-gun legislation. But then again, that's many liberals it seems.

I don't understand why you need to carry a gun, it's not that I don't understand guns. Is there so much crime and so many bad guys that you live in constant fear? We have bad guys too and sure some people would like to have a gun to protect themselves but I regard them as just being paranoid. Gun crime exists here but it is very, very rare that an innocent bystander is killed. I'm very happy to catch public transport, walk my dog around various neighbourhoods, go to the club and have a few beers with the knowledge that no one is carrying a hidden firearm. I'd be more worried about them than I would be about bad guys.

As you have visited Australia and hung around many cities with your surfer mates you would know that Australia has great diversity across its citizens. Surprised you would make that statement.

Whomever is taxing these guys will create a bunch of useless government/subsidized industry jobs , hire half of the population , and keep the other half in the army and on welfare. Pretty much like it is now.

Don't forget India and Japan. They're our friends too.

Big country, small population, lotta dirt, lotta resources, lotta farmland. Make hay while the sun shines as they say.

That would be anecdotal evidence that Oz is all white. Her is something scientific that says the exact same thing.

You are right of course, and so am I. But India is a basket case, with 1.2 billion naked asses to feed, and Japan relies on world's prosperity to keep up, so China is all you got. So, what are you gonna do when Indonesia and /or China will decide to send their own workers to exploit Australian mines and farms that they own, and will offer Aussies to compete for wages with their own hordes of unemployed citizens?

I feel safer carrying a gun. It's not that there's crime everywhere, but you never know if you'll need it if someone attempts to rob or attack you. If someone were to try to rob me, should I just tell them, "Hold on a sec. Let me make a call real quick....." "Ok, sure. I'll wait." "Ok, sorry about that. How have you been? Seen any good movies lately?" ..... No. The cops can't be everywhere at all times. And I'm sure our crime rate is higher than yours is. In fact, our crime rate is higher than many industrialized countries. It's not because of concealed handguns by licensed users. Very, very few people that are licensed to carry guns ever actually have to use them, much less use them for wrongdoing. It's just an added security measure. You can be sure that even if you took the guns away from honest people, that criminals would get them. It's called the black market. By honest people having guns and the criminals knowing this, it acts as a deterrent from them going hog wild and breaking into people's houses and mugging them with no fear at all.

You can argue this as much as you want, but we Americans have this as our second amendment to our constitution that we have the right to bear arms. I suppose it comes from the way this country was founded and our revolution from the British. The only reason that the licenses are for concealment is to comfort those with a fear of guns. People here know that someone may have a gun, but don't know which because they're concealed. Those people don't have to go to therapy or live in fear of all of these random people just pulling out their guns and committing some crime.

You say that you don't have to worry about as much gun crime and that you don't have to worry about someone carrying a hidden firearm. Do you think someone that is honest with a hidden firearm is going to do something to you? I hardly doubt that. He wouldn't risk losing his license and going to jail just by something as simple as pulling it out and showing anyone. You should be worried about the non-licensed criminal with a record that is going to have one anyway.

The last sentence is just ridiculous and only shows the ignorance on your part. Hard working Joe with a family that never committed a crime worse than speeding in his life that carries scares you more than an armed ex-felon who either robbed banks at gunpoint or murdered someone who can easily get a gun off the street and will carry anyway. Hahahaha WOW. I think I'm done. Obviously logic doesn't work.

Funny that, that racists here complain about being invaded by Asians and such and losing the REAL Australian culture - whatever that is. You've probably been to the Multicultural Festivals here. We go each year and I remember quite distinctly last year the large man of Samoan heritage who was the presenter for the day at the stage we were sitting saying there were now 170 nations represented in Queensland alone. Stats are no substitute for living the experience dude.

Not interested in arguing mate. Just stating facts. You've got your gun culture and I don't want to be a part of it. Very happy here. Saw the SOTU last night and watched as Gaby Gifford (is that right) attended Congress. Was she shot by a known criminal?

So India's growth rate of over 6% rates is a basket case? China's growth rate is just under 9%, another basket case? If Indonesia and China decide to send their workers and exploit us, they may find that there are a few rules and regulations in place that will prevent that. Foreign ownership - now what does that mean - can they pick up and take the land back to their place in the world? Nuh. SO they have to operate under our conditions.

BTW, mining companies are crying out for experienced and non experienced, qualified and unqualified employees. Unemployment here is low and they are sourcing a lot of staff from overseas willing to put up with the conditions demanded in the mining industry. They pay big bucks too. The rural industry is also crying out for workers as Aussies don't want to leave the coast. It's a great big land of opportunity.

It sure is, as long as your population stays so small. But don't think that they need to put a block-post on every mile of the road in order to make your conditions meaningless. They just need to control a few % of your territory, which , in those places, is barely inhabited by anyone. You think your 59 tanks and 22 helis will stop them ? Hmm

What world do you live in? lala land? China is still the most populous country on earth.. So you are claiming that while India got 1.2 billion naked asses to feed, China's 1.3 billion is all billionaires? Or are you just a typical India hater, who talks from ass all the time?

Oh well, we'll worry about that when it happens hey. I don't know whether we'd have that many working tanks and choppers.
