    Hey DigitalPoint!
I just decided to start making some new websites etc. I was wondering if blogs can be Niche websites. Also, can a niche site be a website like other website (for example a website on adsense) but something very specific about adsense like 300x250 firefox advertisments or something?

I am looking forward to your responses!
    Thanks
    Harrison

A blog can be anything you want it to be. Yes, it can be a niche site. Many, many blogs are about a specific niche.

You can be very specific but eventually you will run out of articles/topics. How much could you possibly write about the 300x250 firebox button?

Kevinn, my idea was going to be to write about where its good and where it isnt because so many webmasters pile them up on their websites and i don't think it converts...

Isnt a blog something where you write and people leave kudos etc? how would a blog about a specific medicine get kudos etc?

I run a very niche blog, all about Google news -- www.ginside.com

It's very easy to focus on a niche like that. just pick a topic and only write about that topic.

I use directories, comment on other sites, pingback to other sites, use technorati tags, use social networking sites, things like that. it's all good promotion.

Most blogs are niche sites. If you have a blog with quality content try to get posted on social networks like digg. Also post comments on other blogs and in the field, you will be surprised on how much traffic comes from blogs with low comment count.

Also, if you are using a blog like wordpress, try to install the autometa plugin and the google sitemaps plugin (and of course, register your site with google sitemaps).

Niche blogs often to tend to do a lot better than personal or general ones. The reason being that you can have a specific audience to target.

Personal blogs are unlikely to get much traffic unless you are some real famous personality or have some great anecdotes to share.

Promoting a blog is not very different from promoting a site though.

It's not what type of "site" you decide to make, it's what goes IN the site. It's all about the content.

Aim for both as much as possible unless is a profitable and low competitive niche like don't know, diamonds that go inside watches or something (just made that up). That kind of ads pay a lot when clicked not to say when you get affiliate sales of that kind of stuff.

If you want to talk about tidy carpet fans (made that up also) I don't think that niche is profitable.
