Can Arnold Swarchenegger really become the president of the united states of America

Apparently to my understanding you can not become the president of America unless you are born in America according to the constitution.

But wait in 2003 senator Hatch apparently introduced 28th amendment which said anyone living in America for over 20 years could become president. Is this true.

This seemed to happen at the perfect time for arnie am sure his wife hand something to do with it.

Anyway this would mean that Arnold could become the president of America.

But of course to do this he is currently the governor of California he has to first.
Clean up California, solve the budget deficit, revive the economy and ease traffic in Los-angeles.
Has he done any of these things yet. Also what are your thoughts and views of arnie become the president of the US

 

No WAY. Just no. It clearly states in the constitution, you must be born on American soil.

 

Just wondering. What about childreen of american soldiers stationed around the world ? Like they had whole families stationed around and some childreen were born in Germany, Italy..... ?

Arnold Swarchenegger can become president but it would be an effort to get a constitutional amendment passed. So the chances are not likely.

 

Actually, the person must be a "natural born" citizen, meaning a US citizen at birth. One can be a "natural born" citizen without being born on US soil.
Two examples:
1. Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
2. A person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

 

That is true but the constitution doesn't define a natural born citizen.

 

I want to say something here, but it may come out a loud AAAA or grunt or something. Letterman said he has his brand-new country called Kaliforneeya.......

 

My point was that the Constitution does not state that the person must be born on "US Soil."

 

McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone while it was US territory.
