    Yes the changes cause drop in traffic. what type of changes you made ?

    If possible undo the changes and test Organic traffic to confirm this.

    You need links and you need more content. If you dont update your website often even if you are doing great with the linking part, you will eventually go down.

    So keep your website updated! Always bring something new. Only this way you will be able to keep your current SE positions and even go up.
