    1) Upload it to your PHP enabled website that has a database
    2) Run the installer script (read the read me that is included)
    3) Start blogging!

    :)

That's almost like asking "Can someone tell me about a Honda? How do you drive it?". You just gotta play around with it and see :)

Does anyone know of any good on-line tuts that might help Terminal? And while we´re on the subject is anyone using Wordpress as a CMS for a complete site as opposed to just blogging?

I love Wordpress, but I wonder if someone could use it as a CMS. Wouldn't it require a lot of custom work? Sounds like an interesting concept though. :)

    Hi Lady,

I´ve seen WP used as CMS mentioned in another forum after googling for Wordpress as CMS. It could be a simpler solution for a thickhead like me than tackling the Mambo learning curve.

According to Wordpress.org the whole WP site could be run on Wordpress alone.

I think it's a great idea. I am going to try to find a CMS that runs off Wordpress, I'd like to check it out.

Mambo could be hard to skin, other than that I think it's easy to run once installed, not sure though.

I despise skinning OSC, that's not even a nice CMS if you ask me.

That is exactly what I am using it for on my personal blog. Version 1.5 has some great new features that I just blogged about last night because I was so fired up on it. Basically, you can now have static type pages outside of the blog framework, but you create them from inside the WordPress Dashboard as you would for any other post. It is pretty awesome. If you are looking for a simple CMS system then I would definitely recommend WP 1.5.

    Hi Chachi,

Could you give an example of a static page using WP on that site?

e10, that theme (free for download) that I put on there yesterday and then modified a little (the header) did not have a page template...most do. I put that one together in about 20 minutes. Took me about 19 minutes to find and read the documentation on pages, page templates and tags and about one minute to make it. It is prett easy.

Okay, you can´t see any difference between the blog and the static page. That´s cool. Congrats on the nuptials by the way. Who´s the avid baker - you or your spouse?

Well, I think that was more of a function of the number of people invited to the wedding. It is not going to be small, my mother-in-law-to-be has a lot of friends. :) But, we both love to cook...and eat.

As for WP, it can be totally seamless like that or you can even use a different theme on different pages, categories, etc. It is pretty cool. I think it is a perfect solution for someone who does not need a lot of frilly extras like picture galleries, forums, etc. If you want a simple platform to create pages and sub-pages (I forgot to mention this is easy to do) on and have a good blogging platform built in, then WP is for you.

    <edit>Thanks, btw. :)</edit>

Heh. Well, I am from NYC, but the real reason is that it is too easy to go there and use their little scanner gun to pick things out. Did I mention you get to use the scanner gun? :)

Wordpress for CMS is what I'm going to do for a friend and any other sites i start in the future. It's just so much easier. I guess it really depends on the site and it's purpose.

Oh and does anyone know if you can..
    1) Upload files with Wordpress correctly? I had major issues last time I tried and it was more of a pain.
    2) Get comments on Wordpress 'Pages' Or what is the purpose of the pages?
