Can anyone teach me how to upload my backup?

Hi,

I used cpanel to make my full generated backup to move to another host. Can anyone teach me how to upload it to my new cpanel host? Thanks.

The full backup generated using cpanel can not be restored from the user-end interface. You will have to provide the tar file to your new host and ask them to restore it for you...

Just for your information, the home directory backups and mysql backups can only be restored using user interface of cpanel.

I m not sure how restoring from full back up works.Instead what I used to do is

1. Back up home directory first
2. Back up database ( if i have any)
3.Create the account at new host with the same account name as old host
4. Restore the home directory
5.Restore the database file
6.Create the data base user in new host with same user name and password

It works for me.

 

simplest way is create a full backup on same host or on new host by putting the ftp details on enw host

Ask your new host to restore they will restore it happily from WHM
