Can anyone suggest a good search engine for our new website?

We are needing a good website search engine on our site to help customers find the product they are looking for. Can anyone suggest one they have tried out and found works well? The website is on a Linex web server and has approximately 280 pages, 160 products.... I would prefer a one off payment rather than paying a monthly fee.... Thanks

I don't know how good this site is but they advertise 5.00 free, a low cost per click. I'll give it a try with the free 5 bucks and see how it goes! It doesn't appear to be as big as google or yahoo but hey its free and so I'll try it...

I'll post here if I get any results. BTW- since my site doesn't generate much income I look for the freebees!! :)

Try www.picosearch.com. You can control when it crawls your website and more. It is also free. I use it from my blog.

You could try out zoom indexer... I have used it on a site with 1000+ pages with no problems. You can check it out at:

wrensoft.com/zoom/ (sorry, can't post live links yet)

They have a free version you can try out, or paid versions depending on how many pages you need to index.. and it is a one time fee and you can use it on as many sites as you want. And... that's it. (boy... used and too much :) )
