Stay away from register.com and you will be fine with any other registrars. I also did not like the admin panel of 1&1

Another old thread that someone on here has resurrected. Well, I'll throw in my two cents to those still responding and reading: 1and1 and sometimes Register.com has some good deals. But I generally go with GoDaddy, though, that is the one the OP is you're having issues with. So try out 1and1 or hosts that give away free domains. Wish you all the best.
