Can anyone recommend any PHP books from amazon.com to help me learn?

    since most of the libraries near me always have all php books checked out, can anyone recommend a php book from amazon? thanks :)

    I would recommend 'PHP5 and MySQL Bible' by Tim Converse and and Joyce Park with Clark Morgan.

    ISBN - 0-7645-5746-7

    I learnt a lot from that book. It is a few years old now so there may be an updated edition with a different ISBN.

    These two books are good to start with:

    Learning PHP & MySQL
    Programming PHP

    Once you're more comfortable with PHP, you might want to look at:PHP Cookbook, which provides lots of examples of how to do common tasks (e.g. form handling) in PHP.

    I own Programming PHP and PHP Cookbook and can recommend both of them.
