Will my overall eCPM reduce if i add adsense to "low paying niche" websites. I'm having a site which is getting eCPM of $5 constantly. But if i add a site which has good traffic but of low paying niche(less than $0.5 eCPM) then will my overall adsense account will get smart priced or will the earning from the other site be affected.
There is all kind of rumor about this subject. Why don't you try it out for 7 day and if the eCPM drops (you need to use channels because overall eCPM will definitely go down), you can always go back. If you do any testing, please post the results it will benefit others.
The eCPM just an estimator. If you eCPM is $5 mean you estimate will earn $5 in 1000 impression (including the click). If you add the two website eCPM$5 and eCPM$0.55, then sure your overall eCPM is dropping, but it actually not affecting your earning
I have no problem with my low paying (portals, directories, etc) and high paying (forex, finance, insurance, etc) websites sharing the same hosting account. Note: Low/high paying means attracting cheap/high-priced adsense clicks.
I will not worry about my overall eCPM create channels and measure them individually. All of your channels work independently, so even if your overall eCPM is low as a result of the low paying niche site it will not result to smart pricing what will result to smart pricing is when clicks from your sites are not profiting the advertisers, traffic source can also cause smart pricing....
I too have ads on sites with varying ecpm (one $50 and other $0.5). I get more clicks on site with low ecpm. so it is certainly affecting my adsense earnings.
eCPM is not any confirmed payment, why do you want to decrease it??? you don't need to give attention to it, just pay your all attention on your traffic, CTR and overall earnings
eCPM stands for "Effective Cost per 1000 impressions" Impressions are calculated by the amount of times an ad unit is displayed your site. Do not confuse Ad Impressions with Page Impressions. google offers you the ability to review both. Page impressions are exactly that, the impression of a page regardless of the number of ad units on that page. Google's new CPM pricing model for some advertisers has a definite effect on these values and may very well become a key component in the Advertisers filtering capabilities in the near future. Now that Google has CPM pricing the exact value and usage of this data may change but essentially you can use the Google Adsense reporting tools to realize the following: The basic formula for eCPM is as follows: Earnings / Impressions = Effective Cost per 1000 impressions This can be incredibly useful data when looked at either as a whole or more importantly as a custom channel or URL channel report. To further breakdown and maximize the potential for this data as a decision making component in any AdSense campaign I suggest utilizing it in conjunction with the now 200 channels you are allowed with Googles Adsense control panel. The advantage of knowing the eCPM may not be immediately apparent for a site, it offers a unique insight for a site developing content and traffic over a long period of time. Both Adwords publishers and Adsense advertisers this allows anyone to see the effectiveness of a sites content or ad layout and placement over the duration of a long-term project. The bottom-line is that the real value of eCPM is best suited for those not looking to get rich quick with adsense, but those more concerned about the long term effects of placement and layout experimentation alongside solid content.
