Hi! I've been selling a product without refund possibility and it has made couple people to reverse their payment/open a dispute at paypal (allthough I CLEARLY state that I do not offer refunds). Is this anyhow avoidable? I think it is just ridicolous that paypal reverts the transaction and leaves me without anything, yet buyer still keeps the item. Any tips are appreciated.
No way to prevent it assuming your customers are clear on your policies and the product that they are going to receive. Paypal and credit cards are all designed to protect the buyer with little or no protection for the seller.
Regardless of whether you personally offer refunds doesn't matter because PayPal and eBaY require you have seller protection, which means they will refund if they feel it needs to happen. It sucks, but that's how it goes.
No I don't sell at eBay. How is it possible for paypal to require me to have a refund policy? Assuming that I'd clearly state that I don't offer refunds in the sales page. Seems kind of weird.
Your refund policy is that you do not offer refunds. You don't need to have a policy that says you will accept refunds, just a written policy. This way a customer cannot say they didn't know what your policy was if they dispute a transactions. Doesn't help a whole lot in trying to win, but it does help some.
When you agree to their terms of service, you basically tell them you will abide by their arbitration agreements, which includes seller protection. It's really easy to just make a new account.
Paypal has screwed me over a couple of times when I sold a lot on eBay. Once, the customer wanted his money back so it was refunded and they never sent the goods back to me. Sigh. Still mad about that.
This is one of the reasons why people use Paypal to purchase products/services online: because it offers a certain level of protection if they are cheated by the seller.
