Hello! I have used Adsense for over a year already, but I noticed that recently the channel does not appear in the Adsense code anymore. Instead, there is something called the "adslot" I suppose that each channel can have many different adslots. In fact, everytime I log into my Adsense account to get the Adsense code, I get a different adslot, even if it's the same channel, the same size, the same color scheme, etc.- each separate set up creates a different adslot number . My question is this : since I only need one number to identify my channel (my website), does it make any difference which one of the adslots I use, as long as they all refer to the same channel ? This adslot thing has me very confused, and maybe someone can help dispel my confusion. Thank you very much, Best Regards, Bob
The adslot is just a way to save what you did for a certain advertisement for your website and go back and edit it from adsense panel instead of going on your website and messing with the code. This way you can update a number of ad's on different websites in adsense itself instead of having to log into each site and update the colors, channel, border, etc on html/php files on each site. It should simplify editing and make it better targeting area's on people's websites, because this way requires us to name each area to make sure we know what website that advertisement goes with exactly and which place on the website it goes to.
Just today, i went to update the adsense code on a site and now i am only able to create the ad code using the new code with adslot. The idea behind is nice, as it allow you to put a smaller piece of code within the webpage and then change the color for font and background within adsense account without having to go back to the original webpage code to update. downside it does not allow to change the format banner vs skyscraper, only look and feel. Also you can include the channel no longer appears within the code We try it out and see how it works.
