Hi, I have got a broken link on my site. I found it using an online tool. The problem is I cannot find it on my site, so I cant fix it. This is the information from the online tool- Broken links, ordered by page: http://www.regencytimberbuildings.co.uk/ (this is the page that the broken link is supposed to be on) http://www.regencytimberbuildings.co.uk/home%20page%20content%20with%20keywords6_files/image001.gif \_____ error code: 404 (not found) I cannot find any broken link on the page it is telling me it is on. which is the home page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
In your code, you have a reference to that image just before this text: "All ironmongery is Galvanised and heavy duty. We have a large tower bolt to secure the doors at the front and... " Here's the actual code: <span style='mso-ignore:vglayout;position:absolute;z-index:1;left:102px;top:641px; width:871px;height:214px'><img width=871 height=214 src="home%20page%20content%20with%20keywords6_files/image001.gif" v:shapes="_x0000_s1026"></span> so, just delete it if you don't need that image
You've got it now but next time use Xenu to crawl your site. When it finds the broken link it will also record the pages that it appears on. And that nasty html is because you've cut and pasted from Word. use plain text if you can.
its not a link you have some kind of an image that doesnt load up (doesnt exist) its located before the paragraph: "All ironmongery is Galvanised and heavy duty. We have a large tower bolt to secure the doors at the front and also one to bolt down to the concrete on the inside." Just check your source code, and search for the link that doesnt load up. I dont think this post is appropriate for this category by the way
Thanks allot all. I have now fixed the problem. by the way, it was Xenu I used to find the broken link. It told me what page it was on but I still couldn't find it. This is the best category I could think of for this post sorry.
When you find it you can check its working with this great tool http://www.dead-links.com/check_links.php
Next time, once you have the page you can just use "view source" and search for it by name. Or use firefox with firebug installed... http://www.getfirebug.com/
using broken link checker tools you can resolve this problem, just search on google broken links checker tools, find w3c broken link checker tool
Another vote for Xenu Link Sleuth; excellent program. It looks like you used it (the report structure is similar to what you pasted) so I guess this is for other people.
problem solved thanks. Yes I used xenu but couldint find the link on the page until I got help here. Thanks!
