Hello... I've just created a games/funny videos entertainment site, and launched it online 2 days ago, but all the suddenly i feel i am lost coz i think there are alot more BETTER entertainment websites out there and i feel like i am stuck here donno where to go.... the reason i am saying this is because i dont really know what i have to do in order to bring more traffic. Link exchange? Adwords? Blogs? do you guys think this kind of website can make alot of money, since there are so many games sites out there and why would these people come to my site but not those better ones...you know what i mean? And can someone give me alittle of suggestions? Sorry if my english is bad! Thank you...
if u are not offering unique stuff, than it will be impossible for u to compete with big sites. I feels that u need to spend some money(for game site) to build it good and make it at the level of ur compettors. If things didn't turned well, than ofcourse u can sell ur site...
you can start with a very specific niche that the big sites overlook. Build your specific keywords/content and visitors will come. It has to be specific, as general topics cannot compete with established sites. Invest in PPC to get traffic, since you may likely not get any free SE listing for some months. For links, you are welcome to join a network like Link Exchange network.
There are many ways to promote your website. Unfortunately most will cost you. Most of the time you do not need to submit your website. All good search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN will automatically crawl and index your website. Topsites will probably not help you much, they may even have a negative effect, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some of the best ways to gain traffic and exposure are: -SEO (a lot of SEO you can do yourself by reading guides and SEO forums) -Inbound links (Contact websites similar to yours and get them to link to you) -Forum/Community exposure (such as linking your website in your signature) -Email marketing (Buying emails on topics relating to your website, make sure it is spam-law compliant though) -Buying website traffic (Buying raw web traffic to go directly to your website) -Using Google/Overture PPC advertising -Buying banner/text link ads -Submit your website to free directories (and paid ones if you can) -Write press releases to gain attention to your website (try prweb.com) -Start a blog or write articles on the topic of your website, and link them to your website. There's many other ways to promote your site, but thats all I can think of right now.
One of the ways to start receiving traffic is by doing a decent keyword research on your topic. You could go to wordtracker.com and first take the free trial to see which keywords come out with a high KEI index. The higher the better. Also use overture to see how many searches where done on a particular keyword which you have chosen. You can then optimize your web pages reasonably easy on the keywords with obviously lower search amount but also low competition. Normally when you use a similar tactic with most types of web sites should bring you traffic within a few weeks. Once you have build a name for your web site you might be able to go after the keywords with more competition. Pocket.
