Can anyone give me some input on this, please? (Buying a Domain)

    Hello :D!

The domain I'm interested in purchasing is already taken. According to DomainTools, its not set to expire until late February of next year. I contacted the owner, and asked him what price he'd sell it for and he said $5000.00.
Though $5000 is way over my price range (I don't have much cash since I'm in college) but the name fits the description of the site I intend to create. I'm not even sure if the domain is even worth that much, since their isn't a standard for pricing domain names. It is a dictionary term, but uncommon (searching on google bring up 14,000 or so results).

I have no idea how to proceed...

Backorder it now or later? (Since the owner has more than 4000 domains already (according to domaintools), maybe he won't renew it?)
    Respond with a different offer?
Ignore it until next year when its ready to expire?

I wouldn't backorder, respond with a different offer or look out for expiration. I would look for a domain that only cost $5 to $15 bucks to register if the budget is tight. Lots of domains available.

try using synonims or name variations, add an adtional power word (like edge, or elite). ex: www.blackholes.com to www.eliteblackholes.com o try add other adjectives o pronouns like
www.myblackhole.com, thats what i do to keep the essence of the domain name that i liked.

Donr back order i have leteralry lost money for many months. If you on budget get a nice .com domain from scratch.

If you can PM us the domain name - we will see if we can come up with a slight variation that is available for you to use now.

I would counter offer and explain my financial situation to the owner.
