Sorry guys... I know your all here the webmasters and you don't want some stupid girl to butt in your conversations. I was just wondering if someone was kind enough to explain to me how adsense really works. I mean do you get paid for the impressions or the amout of clicks? and what is CTR? and CPM?

    Hello,

Adsense publishers primarily get paid for "clicks". However Google does now offer CPM programs to their advertisers, which means they pay for ads by the impression (ie - $1.50 for 1000 impressions = $1.50 CPM).

CTR is click-thru-rate. It is the percentage of ads shown on your site that actually get clicked. For some high traffic sites, 1-3% is a good click through rate. For some specialty topics, you can sometimes get a CTR of 5-10% (or more). What this breaks down to, if you show an Adsense ad 1000 times and you get 50 clicks, you have a 5% CTR.

    Hope this helps.

ok i'm trying to put this down.
so you are saying that every 1000 impressions i should get a certain amount of money? or are you saying that the only way i make money is by people clicking on my website?

Not always. Only if your site is selected for CPM ads.
Normally all publishers will get paid for the clicks.

An advertiser (AdWords user) has to select your site for CPM based ads. Otherwise you paid on a per click basis.

Adverts must select your site - like here in DP you can see CPM ads.

Only option you have is to turn on/off the cpm ads by selecting text only/text+image ads in your site.

Get a blogger account and sign up for adsense, you'll get accepted and then you can use adsense on how ever many cookie cutter sites you want without the need for approval. TOS means terms of service, LOL.

In such a scenario G may suspend your account for a human verification and most likly revoke and let you in again. Dont get paranoid as G is having more resource to investigate than you know.
