Maybe one day all other search engines may merge together to beat Google and they may offer some incetives to use their search engine...... LOL
The performance of computers, and speed of datalines, is increasing continuosly. The best alternative may be a coop, or semi-p2p software. Where part of work is done in "home" computers. Think in Seti@home, or some p2p software.
History tells us that anything is possible. After all, 100 years ago Sears ruled the retail world, no one thought they would be beat, they looked invincible, and then came along K-Mart, and K-Mart took a HUGE chunk out of Sears, and then along came Walmart, and Walmart put a hurting on the both of them. No one's dominance will remain forever. Personally I think some of the steps that Google has taken recently will come back to bite them. They are becoming slightly monopolistic, trying to push everyone to use adwords, penalizing legitimate advertisements. Eventually congress may have to take action. If I have the money to pay you to advertise on your website, it's not exactly fair that Google has the right to penalize me. I believe their latest slap, if they continue down that road will eventually result in lawsuits. I have clients that spend over $6,000 a month to advertise on other people's sites, as well as over $20,000 a month in PPC, they are really, really pissed off at the hit their sites took in October because of Google's latest slap. And they are already talking to their attorneys. I can't imagine they are the only ones. MR
How many times we using search in Google in a day? Try to reduce it........... If a billion people reduce their search in google, it will show some effect....... Slowly their profit will reduce......... Slowly advertisers go for another options........ The search engine is google's heart.........
I don't think that could could be possible at the moment. Some major purchases would have to be made.
I think Google is forgetting that the webmasters and general web surfers are what made them. It seems to me that G has forgotten that that they are really just another search engine and feel they can control who, what, how and where we do business on the web. Once they started dictating to webmaster how to build their sites (i.e. nofollow etc) and anything else they decide upon in the future will only serve to alienate people. We give Google power, we can just as easily take it away. If they continue with their heavy handed tactics and enough webmasters get fed up with it and stop relying on them then they will be in big trouble.
The big G can and will be beaten in time. As was brought up earlier look at Sears, Kmart, Alta Vista, CompuServe, AOL and the like. All had their day in the sun and have faded, time and effort go a long way with the right people in position. When you're on top everyone is aiming at you and Google is obviously it for now, staying there for 10-20 years will prove to be difficult.
No, google can never be toppled, their heavily backed by something else, their already part of something else, and a major section of a massive plan that cannot fail. It will affect your lives more than you can imagine, you will lose some of your rights to google in the future. My statement sounds over the top now but feel free to quote this in a few years time.
sucrey: Just as others have done before, start small with the right concept and build up.....just like google did. Don't get me wrong, I throughly enjoy Google and what if offers us in services...It's just all things change in time.
10 Years ago nobody thought Microsoft can be beaten, the Google appeared and is on the way to do just that. We need just wait for next big thing
Unless they do alot of planning and have loads of money then i dont think anyone will beat google in the position there in at the moment
