In the past couple of years we have only ever seen Google get stronger. The purchase of YouTube secured them control over even more traffic (over 50% of video site market) and a perfect platform for video ads. But Google cam out of nowhere some years ago to knock giants like Yahoo and Altavista from their throne. Do you think this coule ever happen again - is there room for someone else to topple Google?
If you view the Google timeline you'll see it is possible in the right situations... http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/technology/2004-04-29-google-timeline_x.htm
Some big organization with nice $$$$$$$ and knowledge can beat Google but this can't be done in a night. It will require some solid planning.
hi, google's success didn't come overnight. it doesn't depend on people, it's a process oriented company. it has a huge knowledge base. i think google is the only one to rule the web thanks raj
I think sure... when someone develops a better algo and serves up better results than Google. They may be trying to buy up the whole world but their income is derived from providing a quality search. If they continue to screw with things the way they are now it wouldn't be that difficult for a new player(s) to take over.
If anyone can do it without inventing a disruptive new search technology its Microsoft. The stronger Google gets, the easier it will be for Microsoft to revisit their ever so disliked from a competition point of view strategy to use their position on the desktop. If Google becomes too successful, the courts might not prevent Microsoft from hitting back by preinstalling everything, optimize IE for MSN and what have you. Its just legal issues preventing Microsoft from taking down Google. As long as Microsoft controls the dominant OS and browser, Google is vulnerable.
An corporation can always be "beaten." it is Correct. Microsoft trying to play big roll with live search engine. will see what they are try to do.
What r u talking abt? Google was born less than 10 yrs ago and it has become king within 4 yrs of its birth. Internet is a dynamic phenomenon --always changing and adapting If somebody comes up with much beter ideas -and technology-then Google can become history in couple yrs of time. Google depends on bots --but if I can invent a program that depends on human emotion - I can put Gogle out of the market in 18 months time. Nothing-idealistic/antagonistic --just PRAGMATISM
There's definately room for an improved algo. I often use delicious to search - but don't do it regulalry because it is so slow.
