Can anyone advise me on typical pricing? I don't know what to charge clients.

Can anyone tell me typical (newbie) price ranges for:

    Banner creation - (i.e. 728x90)

    Ad creation - various sizes

Ad modification - changing colors, pictures on existing ads

Also, do you find it's best to work on per-project pay, or hourly?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure myself, but I would browse the buy & sell section of the forum.

It depends on what type of banner you are designing, general charge for banner design is 15-25$

It depends on the client too.

If it's some 14 year old kid who wants a banner for his Xbox site, then you're obviously not going to charge big money for a banner. If it's a corporation, and the person you're dealing with isn't paying you out of their own pocket - charge as much as you think you can get away with :)

I charge $50 per hour for my real world clients. For major projects, I just work out how many hours I think it will take me.

And it depends on your skill too. Your client should negotiate after you lay down the basic prices as well. Also you could squeeze out a few extra dollars by charging for revisions. Say they get 3 banners to choose from for $50. They can either pick one as-is or if they would like something changed on one of them, charge an extra $5 for each time you tweak it.

If it's a small project charge a project fee. If it's professional/corporate charge per hour.
