The best way is to write highly relevant and unique content that would attract academics and they would naturally link to you. You must understand, the only .gov or .edu pages that are really worth getting a back link from are the 'departmental' pages, which are also, nearly impossible to get on to. There are plenty of hucksters out there selling back links from .edu and maybe .gov, but they are not on departmental pages. Most of the time its some student who stuck a directory up on his schools web space allocated to him and if that is the case, it's no better than linking in any other directory.

Thanks for pointing that out. A lot of clients get caught up on the extension .edu or .gov, and not realizing the source. The source is what matters. Best of luck getting on there, because that is hard work.

    1. Your website has to be relevant to the linking website
    2. Most of the .gov and .edu links are 'nofollow', so do not expect wonders out of it

I don't think that you need to focus on getting .gov or .edu backlinks.

If you use a spammy or black-hat technique to get these links, it's not going to help you much anyway. The reason .gov or .edu links are thought or said to have value is because most of the pages on these domains are very authoritative. But the only way to get a link from an authoritative site is to have a genuinely good page worth linking to.

If you're getting links through more devious means, it's not going to help you much even if they're on .edu or .gov domains because they're going to be from self-published sources like forums or blogs. These sites are going to be treated just like other internet forums on .com or .net or .org domains.

Best to stop thinking about it and just focus on making your site better.

There is no one who will tell you original way to building links from .gov or .edu websites. There are several reasons to do so.

    - This is a secret to get back links and to get money
    - this secret has good worth.
    - People pay for such tasks so, why should one tell about his working way and lose his customers
    - Once this secret spread out, that will minimize people earning.

So you should not ask that how to build such links. Should ask that is there any body who can provide you 1 .edu Backlink against $1?

    That is the real myth.

It is not easy to get .edu and .gov link, but as long as we say about authority link for boost keyword ranking obviously I say that .edu and .gov link are good enough. Before I made lots of such link by blog commenting and I also got the results. But now the problem is most of .edu blog that allow comment full of spam or otherwise those blog use nofollow on the comment section. Now this strategy is completely useless.

But if you can make blog on .edu or .gov site it then it can much help you. I also created some blogs on .edu site, but after few days or months all blogs gone deleted.
Approach to University student and ask then whether they will allow you to create blog on their account. If need pay them a small buck. And this is the only way to get .edu blog.

If you have sufficient budget, you can also acquire a grandfathered EDU domain as they don't have any accreditation or usage restrictions.
