I believe I can sell travel packages and travel books so thus amazon should be the first choice but I beleive they have one day cookie and 5% commission, so any alternatives anybody?

I am not sure which country your site targets, but if it's the UK you may consider promoting Mosaic Holidays who pay 5% commission and have a 90 day cookie. With an average basket size of £1200-£1300 it means you would earn around £62.50 (US $125.00) commission.
