So you need the last five posts with the post images included? Hang on, I've got some PHP code laying around -- you'll have to use custom fields to pull it off, but it should work. (Note: I'm about to head to bed, so I'll have to pick it up in the morning if somebody else doesn't beat me to it first.)
Why don't you try finding suitable plugin for your needs. That way, you don't need to think of code. Who knows there are some sorts of plugin suitable for your problem.
Because what I intend to offer him will likely be far superior than whatever any plugin can provide, not to mention consume fewer server resources while also helping protect against yet another doorway for a malicious hacker to break into his WP powered site.
